wow, has anyone else heard this album? just had to post something here after listening to it for like the 5th time in a row. it's one of the most brilliantly executed and hauntingly aesthetic sounding albums that i have heard in a long while, i'm surprised to have not heard more about it on this list. it starts off with a pretty intense post-post-rock track, combining elements of noise and guitar work with a distorted organ, very pink floyd influenced in a wierd way, and then from this great beginning the album goes off into many different beautiful directions, factor is one of my favorites, sounding like a scott heron track if he did more IDM. it has alot of really nice start/stop rythmic arrangements and warm droney guitar in the background, the use of a crazy stereo-panned voice snippet make the track IMO. the last track is way cool too, really spooky in a sad melancholy way with some of the best guitar work i have heard on an "IDM" album since greg davis's arbor and fennez's endless summer, not so absract as endless summer, but i think the attention to detail and composition, and the use of a perfectly placed vocal sample really make this track shine. anyhow, if you haven't already picked this one, it is a must own and a big congrats to the twine guys. peace ELE _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I'm bussy with writing a review of that record, and have a real good time with listening to it. It's a very "expresive" album with a big variation in moods. "circulation" is not quite the same as "recorder," a testament to how twine manages to continually evolve... but it's a really solid record. it's a lot less "dense" overall, and has a very careful cut-and-paste quality to it. if you heard "surn" off the "immediate action" 12" they released on hefty, this material was created around the same time. whereas "recorder" seems to function best as this nearly overwhelming whole (it's so saturated with darkness and atmosphere) "circulation" works more as separate tracks independent of one another. i'd recommend picking up a copy if you can locate it, as, alongside the IA 12", it really showcases when they found their distinct voice. m.mercer :: design + sound http://www.matthewmercer.com/ _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's not similar, it is not such a coherent album like "recorder", most of the Twine elements (the use of voice sample, electronic as well as instruments, the drones,...) are there, but songs are not so much "worked out" (<== translation problems :)). The record have very strong moments but sometimes is it to randomised. But review is on the L'entrepot site. I have a very good time recently with the Désormais album. It's maybe more a soundscape album, a bit more experimental than Twine but they use a bit the same mix from microsounds, instruments and samples. sounds very interesting, think i'll check it out thanks for the tip. got the desormais album a couple weeks ago and am thoroughly impressed with it, kudos to mitchell akiyama and joshua treble. really good things coming from the states and canada recently, check out tim heckers 'haunt me, haunt me, do it again' if you haven't already, like the title says, some very haunting ambient textures on that one.
