Indeed. I looked at the TEEx 3 booklet last weekend and upon seeing the section with Mike, the first thing that came to mind was "Heh, what a fucking nerd" ... :-) He's in trouble now, all the idm'ers can corner him on the boat in S.F. next month and he can't get away! :-) - Greg

Hi, In the recent issue of Dutch mag Update Magazine is an interview with Mike Paradinas. Here are some interesting re-translations: "I did some co-productions with Richard James. Lots of freestyle, we both did turns on basslines, drums, sounds and effects. If a track was finished we both did a mix and kept the best one." "Internet is the most boring thing there is. There are incredible nerds on the internet, you don't want to have anything to do with them. I rather talk to humans." (Rephlex) Gary Moscheles - Shaped To Make Your Life CD Brad Stryder vs. Gary Moscheles (Rephlex) 2LP/CD Mu-Ziq - Volume 3 2LP/CD Cheers, Hans -- +----------------------------+ | Hans Veneman | | veneman@tv99ad.xs4all.nl | | phone: +31(0)3200-35266 | +----------------------------+ http://www.xs4all.nl/~tv99ad

Is 'The Cosmic Forces of Mu' indicative of what the artists on it sound like? I've never really heard any of the releases on Planet Mu, except a bit of Capitol K stuff, so I'm curious as to how these tunes compare stylistically to the artists other releases. Actually, I think I've heard a couple of Jega tunes too. They're on Planet Mu, yeah? The Luke Vibert track on here confirms for me my impression that his music has become a series of games, one of the most common being taking a really played out sound/gesture/whatever and pushing it to comical extremes. Pretty much, although the rest of tracks that I've heard by Dykehouse isn't guitar stuff. In fact, there are at least two guitar tracks on the album, what's that all about eh? I just got it the other day and I'm loving it, highly recommended. There's even a few tracks on it which out do Hard Love by Kid Spatula (my previous favourite Planet-Mu track). Word. Just change it to register users. Use email to verify. Cake. If the planetmu web forum goes away, the terrorists have already won! Some one needs to let Warp know about this new technology as well. The way to do it is just have a moderator, force you to log in with a real email address to post, and then be able to ban users. Not that hard to set up. - cutups

The problem with WARP and µ is they are record labels, not fansites or community forums - they don't have the time or manpower (personpower?) to devote to having moderators babysit their forums. Agreed, I think forums are excellent sources of information (sometimes better than mailing lists [sic] ) and they do provide a sense of 'community' for users, especially electronic music listeners (I refuse to use the "I" word) who otherwise might not know another soul in the real world who shares the same interest in music. Perhaps if WARP and µ brought their forums back, they could recruit trusted individuals (fans) to moderate their board so they don't have to devote the time/money/warm bodies to it and have their cake and eat it too so to speak. Are we sure it was user problems and not just the bandwidth generated that caused warp/planet mu to discontinue the forums? g. On Thursday 25 April 2002 10:34 am, Joyrex wrote:

True, some forum software (YaBB is notorious for this) generate HUGE amounts of bandwidth, but both the µ and WARP forums both used minimal graphics (and the µ forum wasn't that heavily trafficked anyway, which what made it nice) so I don't think bandwidth was the issue. Of course, I could be wrong, but I am sure WARP's bandwidth allotment is sufficient for their online store to function at peak capacity. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gabriel J. It seems as though it was a situation where the few ruined it for the many. The msg on the planet-mu board gave that reason anyway, but if there are an admitted "many" that benefit, then why allow the few to ruin it? Its not like a community pool where if one person pisses in it then everyone has to get out. Just ignore the messages. You have to expect, when dealing with an open forum, some bad seeds. [take my posts here for example ;) ] Thats just life. I don't remember it being especially bad there or anything. But they would know better than I. I've never been a webmaster of course so I don't know all the work that goes into maintaining a board... Just seems like a bit of an overreaction. --- Joyrex <joyrex@ev1.net> wrote:
