Of course the older hymen stuff is known for straight up harsh rhythmic noise (noisex, converter, synapsescape, imminent), which makes sense since its a sister label to AntZen. But its really been pushing variety lately to great result... oddly its really not an evolution of the rhythmic noise stuff so much as jumping over to other styles... I'd recommend alot of their releases, although not much is like luisine.. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "acre" <lists@acre-c.com> To: "d_jak" <d_jak@netzero.net>; "idm" <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2002 7:22 PM Subject: Re: [idm] l'usine & hymen generally

onward to passarani - nintendo-y hip hop actually, believe it or not, that passarani ("unspeakable future outbreaks") is his most unusual work, fitting "hymen" perfectly - it is *very* dark, very mysterious melodic ambient with broken heavy percussion. It has been recorded in 1996 for ufo exhibition. It is one of my favorite releases on the label, and one of my favorite passarani releases. I wish he did more work in this vein. My review of it here: http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven/reviews/album_review.php?id=94 if you ever get a chance, grab this release (either in cd or vinyl form). --- anton "seven" editor http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven/ icq://2623520 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It means that if you got that, you do not have to try *as hard* to get "coalition 2000", "slipthrough" and "freak". There is a release on delicatessen records ( www.delikatessen-records.com/ ) titled ("sustain") that I have not heard yet. If you look on l'usine's site, you will notice that there is an upcoming split release on hymen ( www.klangstabil.de/hymen / ) and mad monkey ( www.madmonkey.org ), as well as a release on isophlux (http://isophlux.com/ ). As far as similar bands go, it is a tough one, there is not really a match, but I am sure you would enjoy savath & salas, delarosa & asora, telefon tel aviv (and generally any hefty material - www.heftyrecords.com ), sybarite ( http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven/reviews/list.php?searchby_band=1&search=sy barite ), llips on u-cover. Most of the stuff has been reviewed on "seven" over the years. I am sure there is much more, someone else could fill the gaps. As for hymen ( http://www.klangstabil.de/hymen/ ), the label has been around since 1997 (at least this is the date of the first release) and is best described by its motto - "technoid noises for collapsing people". You will find everything from quirky idm of solar-x to broken heaviness of somatic responses and venetian snares; from rhythmic noise of converter to glitchy ambient of xingu hill and squaremeter. Anything dark & technoid in nature fits the profile of the label - with rare exceptions all of its 50+ releases are excellent material. Most of hymen releases has been reviewed on "seven" throughout last three years: http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven/reviews/list.php?searchby_label=1&search=h ymen if you do some research, there is more than plenty info about l'usine and hymen around the net.
