Meat Beat Manifesto lurches back into view with the projects first new album in some years, Impossible Star. Packed to the brim with the usual MBM gear - dubwise basslines, soaring synths and mangled breakbeats. Yet on Impossible Starr, Jack Dangers and crew seem to be indulging us in a sorted of left-field pop sound that owes as much to liquid funk (well about as much liquid funk as you can get with MBM) as it does Scorn style dub scorchers. Interesting turn for the group, yet sure to spark interest with longtime fans. https://bleep.com/release/93751-meat-beat-manifesto-impossible-star Clint Anderson Systems Engineer "Freedom -- paint me a picture!" -- Burton Cummings

The "Impossible Star" album can also be listened to in full (not just excerpts), and purchased directly from Meat Beat Manifesto through their Bandcamp page: https://meatbeatmanifesto.bandcamp.com/album/impossible-star It's a few dollars less, and there are also physical formats available: 2xLP and CD. I had this on pre-order and the digital tracks were just made available a few minutes ago. I can't wait to get home and take a listen! Another thumbs up here. My wife has Apple Music, so I was able to download it while on a 2-hour drive and am really digging it. My fave is probably Lurker, but T.M.I. is definitely great, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Unique Boutique with its sparingly bombastic vocoder and Bass Playa. I always like to provide a yardstick where possible–my fave MBM of all time would be Satyricon, so of course YMMV. Dave
