Someone said my name! My ears are ringing! In truth, someone told me about the Dallas thread going on right now, so I checked the digest.. Here's my rundown of what's up in Dallas with shows and such: 9/15. Someone was partially right. Scorn cancelled all of their US appearances. HOWEVER, the show still goes on (Cadoo is right). The lineup is: * Gridlock - [<unit>] records - (Cadoo.. PS, I'm getting requests for you to perform your Berlin cover from 5.25) IDM and Industrial * Proem - Merck records - IDM * Blowtorch - Cyber-Blast Records - Dark ambient blended with rhythmic noise. http://www.geocities.com/cyberblastrecords/blowtorch.htm All this is happening at Sand Bar, 2653 Commerce in Deep Ellum. The night before, 9/14, Proem will be doing a radio interview on Rocket Radio on 89.3 FM , which airs midnight - 4a, or you can stream it at http://www.knon.org. (Gridlock is welcome to come into the studio that night too if they like). Someone mentioned something about Squarepusher and Plaid.. Yes, they are going to be in Dallas.. 9/1 at Trees in Deep Ellum. Someone else was mentioning record stores.. Yes, that Dallas has a severe lack of.. Good Records carries some IDM. Tower Records also carries some IDM.. If you don't see it on the shelves at Tower, ask for Per and he'll be sure to get it ordered in for you. Other IDM yumminess in Dallas: Saturday nights : Synergy at The Sand Bar (2653 Commerce) there is USUALLY at least 1 IDM DJ booked. I know you can find IDM there on the following upcoming dates: 8.11, 8.25, 8.31, 9.15, 12.8 Friday nights : My radio show (see sig file) 8/31 actually there is a special 40 minute IDM mix. Friday nights : Keep your ears peeled for the Subtronic Theatre lineup at Liquid Lounge. I believe its a monthly event, and they often book IDM acts. And for those in Toronto and area, Gridlock is still playing up here as well, with Tomas Jirku opening, along with a couple of DJs. It's on Sunday, Sept 9th at The Rivoli. It's a little pricey ($12 advance at Penguin and Rotate This), but I think it'll be worth it, especially to folks like me who came into IDM from the industrial side of things. Gridlock's "Trace" is one of my top records of the year, and I really look forward to seeing/hearing what they do live. Pity about Scorn, though I will definitely be going to check out Proem.

Ugh...Tower...fuck that. They are so overpriced. And..well..they are just Tower. Support your local independent record stores. Anything you want IDM-wise can be ordered at Good Records if they don't already stock it. Their prices are right, they are superfriendly, they have in-stores with the likes of Marumari, and you can drink beer in the store :) Anything I have ever tried to order there they have come through with, from Schematic stuff to Planet Mu releases.
