Okay, so I was excessively bored the other day and I was browsing the image gallery at good ol' Planet Mu (which I think is currently kicking Rephlex in the nuts in the quality department), when I noticed a shot of Venetian Snares playing live. The picture shows what's on his CRT's (yes, he no have laptops for this set, and brought out the computer cases, monitors, the works). My question is, does that not look like Buzz? If not what is it? It looks like a tracker. If so, that's crazy! He get's some quality distortion out of buzz and does some mad microtweaking (which I've done, but not to the extent as to make it my signature sound or something). Also, if it is Buzz, that adds Snares to the hushed list of buzz artists... I'd like to know if there any other IDM buzz artists out there. I find this to be a fascinating program which by itself is elegent as hell, but it can incorporate MIDI (allowing you to sync Reaktor and other soft synths to it, as well as hardware) and VST (for those oh so quality fx). Just some food for thought. Digest at your leisure. -Mark --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Aaron uses the PC version of OctaMed (http://www.ocatamed.co.uk) to create tracks and for his live performances. He has used Buzz as a soft synth a few times, though. Venetian Snares uses Octamed, an old amiga tracking app, imported to PC. although i imagine he has and does use other stuff, that's what he played off when he played in pittsburgh last year. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark" <mef@ecst.csuchico.edu> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Saturday, June 23, 2001 3:52 AM Subject: [idm] A buzzworthy Venetian Snares?
