So I got a gift certificate for a $100 on amazon. Here is whats on my cart now: My Bloody Valentine: Tremolo, Glider, Isn't Anything Fennesz: Hotel Parallel Porter Ricks: Biokinetics Wagon Christ: Tally Ho! Goldie: Timeless Now, I was hoping you all could help me choose between Burnt Friedman's Con Ritmo, God Speed You Black Emperor's Raise Your Fist..., a Funki Procini cd, something by Merzbow, or something. Also, is that Goldie really any good? Or just a passing phase way back when d'n'b was new? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's junk. Sounds really dated now. Sucked even back in '95, imo. Most of it is really sort of slick and popy. Get that 1st "Platinum Breakz" comp on Metalheadz instead, if you're in that kind of mood. Do these have the tracks that made Goldie famous? Cos everything I've heard from him is absolute poo. Metalheadz, Good Lookin'.... errrp. My favorite of the lot is probably latter day (pre Audio Couture and _Blueprints_ Moving Shadow, but even that stuff has vestiges of the down-n-dirty (as opposed to the Lexus commercial sheen of the upwardly striving). Anyway, you've probably used your gift certificate, but I'd say that Fennesz Plays is still his crowning achievement... -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Not really. I guess I was trying to say that for Metalheadz circa '95 that comp fares better than Goldie's full length. At least it has a couple of good tracks: Asylum's "Da Base II Dark" and Dillinja's "Armoured D", but really, who cares at this point ?

The stuff he released as Rufige Kru tended to be his darker stuff. I haven't listened to it in ages, but I remember thinking that the T3/Dark Metal 12" was pretty good at the time it came out. God, it's hard to believe I was really into drum'n'bass at one point !

Absolutely ! Nothing else he's done grabs me as much as that EP. One of my favorite releases EVER ! ANdrei --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
