I don't know what Michael Fakesch was smoking when he said that the Crunch album is the best record ever released by Musik Aus Strom. If you think that Amber is still (or was ever) Ae's best album, then you may like it. To answer your question, yes you will probably like Crunch. Would someone please do me a favor and tell me why there are people who think Amber is Ae's best work? I know people have different personal tastes and all that drek, but to me Amber is far and away their worst album. It isn't even close. Every single Autechre record has wowed me EXCEPT Amber. I keep going back to it hoping that I will pick up on something I hadn't heard before and every single time I think, "well that was a nice but otherwise forgetable experience." Yeah! I'm the most simple minded and shallow person you could ever find because I prefer deep melody and a FEELING of ambient extraterrestrial landscapes of Amber to uninteresting mess of sound designs and noises worth average idm act of EP7. If you do not dig Amber, I guess it is because you've heard it in the wrong atmosphear and in the wrong time. It is the most pure and unburdened album by Ae. After it there was magnificient Tri Repetae which set them in the development for the sake of development mode which resulted in mediocre EP7 after all. When I read in the review on Confield that they have returned somehow to the Chiastic Slide (which is still a half-great, half-less great album in my view) times I said: at fucking last they understood what they've done and going to fix that! killl me. The Bit Hop Video Project, with the Crunch/Kima video collaboration, 'Albert', is one of the best-ever idm-flavoured vids. Brilliant production, great synchronization of image/story and music. Extraordinarily well done. "Father, wake up!" There are another 15 Crunch audio tracks in a file on the Bit Hop Video disc: a full album's worth of stuff, all very nice and crunchy, and extremely low-priced, considering the amount of material on the disc. It runs less than $12 retail. Don't miss it: it was one of the very best things that I encountered in 2003. seek
