From the cyberdesk of: Jason A. Hutto From: ??? Date: ??? Subject: ??? Status: Ahhh, youth, in all its ignorance. For starters, these people came from Throbbing Gristle. If you want poppy stuff, check their early album "Songs of Love & Lust", particularly "Driving Blind". For more ambient really dark moody heroin-addicted binge-music, turn to "CTI: Live in Europe" (Chris Carter and Cosey Tutti are CTI). This is YASAW(tm), (Yet Another Secret Ambient Weapon), especially "Mary". Chilling, to the extreme. They have a newer CD out, "Synaesthasia", I think, and it sounds so ambient, it is almost comatose. I've got quite a bit of their stuff, enjoyed the growth they've obtained in their work. They remind me for some reason, of another great British duo, Greater Than One. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael King mike%delta1@rex.cs.tulane.edu Delta Systems New Orleans, LA 70002 Voice: 504.837.9835 Fax: 504.837.9838 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Never under estimate the bandwidth of a station wagon loaded with mag tapes. -From the "kermit" manual ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

just flipping through the cd's at the local library and i found the "collectiv four" rarities compilation by chris & cosey / cti. this stuff has aged very well. i really like some of the early 80's output from this group. while they did do some irritating and boring stuff at times, they pushed a lot of boundaries. certainly IDM for the time. "trance" and "heartbeat" still get frequent play at my house. apparently now they record a lot of ambient stuff. anyone heard any of their recent stuff? any good? the most recent thing of theirs that i ever heard was "trust", which was iffy. i think i oughta go back and check out their mp3.com page again. really enjoying "collectiv four" - check it out if you get a chance. c. ... . . . . . . --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yo, c: all of c&c is worth owning/checking out. for the last number of years, they've been releasing a number of volumes under their cti moniker which is essentially flowing, pulsing experimental ambient of sorts. other fairly recent releases have included two separate volumes of 'electronic ambient remixes', one of chris carter's excellent 'the space between' disc, and the second of cosey's 'time to tell' disc ('the space between' in particular, has been quite overlooked by too many). more prototypical c&c 'idm' can be found on their 'muzique fantastique' disc—there's also an album after 'trust' called 'skimble skamble', which was the last officially released c&c stuff, and falls pretty much in vein with previous recordings (beat-driven techno with their own particular touch). chris carter has also kept busy with his excellent ambient techno album 'small moon', and a live recording as well. all are pretty damn good. cheers. darren b e\i "c. reider" wrote:
