The Leaf Label presents: Burnt Friedman + Freeform live apologies if you've already had this once! This Wednesday, Burnt Friedman makes his first appearance in the UK since June 1997. He will perform live at Plastic People on Wednesday 29th November. Friedman's astonishing live set has few discernable antecedents: he performs using five randomly interacting, rigorously programmed minidisc players and a mixing desk - it might not sound like much, but he manages to develop a heart-stoppingly original groove, quite unlike anything he has released on record, as anyone who heard his set at this year's Sonar festival in Barcelona will tell you. And on Plastic People's ace soundsystem, you're in for a real treat. In addition, The Leaf Label's latest signing Freeform (aka Simon Pyke) will appear, showcasing material from his forthcoming album. Leaf's Tony Morley will DJ. date: Wednesday 29th November 2000 venue: Plastic People address: 147-149 Curtain Road, London, EC2 tube: Old Street doors: 8pm - midnight price: £5.00 (£4.00 concessions) info: 020 7733 1818 Burnt: onstage 10.15pm http://www.nonplace.de Freeform: onstage 9.00pm http://www.freefarm.co.uk "Choose anything you want and fuck with yourselves" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

altho i hit the venue about a half hour into Burnt's set :(( i gotta say it was one of the most inneresting earresting performances - what i can only describe as wobbly noise over jazzified drum breaks - and burnt manipulated the sounds from a racing pace all the way down to more minimal dubby drum beats. my kind of idm: techno, jazz, beats all fucked up & a crowd of dudes hands crossed swaying to the grooves. a few even danced! i did clock him moving some mini discs around - he had a nice headlight on his head as well (must get one of those for djing in dark spaces!) even tho burnt is 1/2 of Flanger, it's clear to me after seeing his set where his 2 cents lies in the new album... oh yeah, lots from this list were there. hello! ps: plastic people is a friendly good venue for idm - i got there late, the door staff refused to take my money & told me to head on in --- plus the door bod was reading a book about kung fu warriors... w:) Burnt Friedman + Freeform live Friedman's astonishing live set has few discernable antecedents: he performs using five randomly interacting, rigorously programmed minidisc players and a mixing desk - it might not sound like much, but he manages to develop a heart-stoppingly original groove, quite unlike anything he has released on record, as anyone who heard his set at this year's Sonar festival in Barcelona will tell you.
