Ohh!!! I love it! Fascinating sound.. Wonderfully complex synth engine... The "Broken Arp" is wonderful. It can do old C64 sounds in a pinch, but can also be used for other interesting things. It's got a lot of bite to it, and does wonderful leads, and bass (3 oscillators!), it also does great modulating (4 LFO's, and you can interlace!). Great variety of filters. The tables are great too... Kinda like a percussive waldorf type deal. It really is a steal at 500$... I just wish I didn't have to sell mine... Go to www.sidstation.com and listen to some sounds... -j it's a little noisy, tho. but what's cool is that it's a very distinct noise, and you can use it to your advantage... Try turning the gain up on your mixer for just the noise... It's the sound of the filter still moving around... Run this through a bunch of crazy FX, sample it, and have fun! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

it rocks imho. it's noisy as hell but nothing that can't be handled with an external noise gate (it has one built in but it sucks). how about this: you can easily make ambient stuff by just cranking up the volume and listen to its random background humming noise. it's crazy but this is what i call character ;) also it has that distinct lo fi feeling going all thru it and when properly operated it is capable of delivering the deadliest pulse bass on earth ;) onboard filters are ok, not really state of the art, but they're quite useful. all in all, i'd say rather a machine for e-toy fumblers but when operated with appropriated love and affection it can be very rewarding ;) check out the elektron-users mailing list for more infos: http://www.egroups.com/group/elektron-users ..and while you're at it also have a quick look at this baby: http://www.machinedrum.com -- http://www.mp3.com/ecm http://www.mp3.com/skalpell in bass no one can hear you scream.
