hi all,
one of my periodic updates about monotonik (net.music.label!) with some new
things which will probably be of interest to you all (seeing as they're
free, and, umm, relatively good quality, even..)
firstly, there's a new release online for download as mp3s for free as per
usual, mtk.mp3.042, which is Prob's "Emotion EP".
[Prob. has had previous and forthcoming releases under his d+b handle Dice
on Audio Couture, Straight Up Breakbeat, and Formation, and this EP consists
of two rather fetching down-plus-up-beat-electro-break-ish tracks,
respectively reminiscent of Certificate 18 and a slightly less cheesy DMX
Krew, heh..]
plus, in some artist news, we've linked to Lackluster's recent live set from
Technature in Helsinki, Finland, which is downloadable as a rather massive
60 meg mp3, youch, plus we've got a little mp3 of John Peel (yep, God
himself..) being amusingly sceptical about the good taste of Vim's
drone-rock alter-ego name, Vom. well, i guess it amuses us, at least ;)
anyhow, just go through the news index to get to that new.good.stuff:

ps - was gonna write a whole mini-review, but saw Deltron 3030 at the
Maritime Hall in san fran earlier this week, _very_ good - Dan the Automator
+ Kid Koala + Del Tha Funky Homosapien + live guitar and bass = the perfect
future hiphop experience - slick as hell and really intense. add Ugly
Duckling (the true 'three feet high and rising' goofball daisy-age
successors?) and Blackalicious on the same bill, and the gig was pretty damn
amazing.
[tho it hasn't been recommended on-list that i can recall, i highly
recommend the 'Virus' single from Deltron 3030 and indeed the whole album -
hiphop but reaching out in a more ambitious electronic angle, tho some might
complain it's a bit too Dr.Octagon, heehee, but at least the Autmator is
ripping off himself, and it's still heavenly. You can download free Deltron
3030 mp3s from
http://www.75ark.com .]
pps - also, tho maybe it's a bit too pop for this forum, Dan The Automator's
net supergroup Gorillaz, who only exist online, also blow my mind - check
out
http://www.gorillaz.com :) Damon from Blur is the voice of the lead
singer, they're visualised by Jamie Hewlett of 'Tank Girl' fame - what else
do you want? plus their website is amusingly geeky - different desktop to
play with for each band-member.. :P
