I picked up a 12" on Kompakte by R. Voight titled Robson Ponte while this isn't "IDM" it certainly is more interesting than most 4nthefloor house/techno I often hear. I'd like to ask if other Kompakte 12"es are as interesting (different from the norm) in their approach to techno. Sound pretty unique to me. Also, there's been a lot of talk of Vladislav Delay and PBE seems to have almost all his releases. I have yet to hear any of this, can someone point me to some Real Audio samples on the web???? thnx g --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

There are a handful of labels from which I try and grab whatever I can. Among them are Kompakt and ESPECIALLY Klang. I recommend the latter highly for this ilk. Of course, I love most everything on Delsin, Focus/DeFocus, Involve and a bunch of others I'm forgetting right now, but it seems to me that the former two represent quite purely what you're mentioning. Force does (of course) as well, but is a bit more 'slammin' at points. Admittedly, I don't own as much of their catalog as I'd like - so take my view with that grain of salt. jeff np - LA Synthesis : Matrix Surfer Gilly wrote:

I'm not sure about other 12"s but I know just about anything I pick up on Kompakt amazes my ears. It's all pretty much in the same "minimal" vein but each artist with their own twist. I can recommend the Koln, Total1 and Total2 comps to get a flavor for what's going on in the Cologne scene. Also check out Thomas Brinkman's rework of R. Hawtin's Concept stuff which involves a homebrewed turntable. It blew my mind. In addition check out the Profan label for Studio 1 releases. I began picking up the color series just recently. For a taste of that there is a CD release with highlights. I've also began digging into the Tresor label out of Berlin and they seem to have a lot of minimal techno/house/drone/etc... There's so much good stuff coming out of Germany. If you want more specifics let me know. (c) np: tresor.2000 - compilation vol 8 (tresor.150) At 12:07 AM 10/30/2000 -0800, you wrote:

on the Profan tip... i have to add my props to Wolfgang Voigt for the Studio 1 "Keep on Rockin'" 12" which is simply mesmerizing in its ascetic grooviness ... Brinkmann and Voigt have completely redefined what i listen for in dance music ... it's all about the groooooooooooove, ja. -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Mon, 30 Oct 2000, Chris Westphal wrote:
