Success! NOT TO RIP ON THE STANDARD EMAIL LIST GROUP THING, but, some topics are a littel more important to hear about. DAMN, cudos to every person who tossed their hat into the ring about what ever and honestly started "talking" and not just "typing"! I am fucking sweating here reading some of these responses. Very well informed, yes. as for who ever it was that said house is important, here to stay, yada yada yada....(sorry, everyones name melds into one, i call "whoever") check this out: do you think that Carlos or kraftwerk or vollenweider or j.q. bach thought of the simple, boiled to vapor (well, this is too cool of a word to use for house, but i will leave it there because it was what i typed) stylings of house when they began toiling with electronics. Really, HOUSE SPROUTED FROM THE ORIGINALS, AND THE ORIGINALS EMBODIED EVERYTHING THAT IS STILL IDM. BET ON IT. Yes, house will always have a niche and a audience, but i am not it. And, since I am american, in america, i am assumed to be a lover of "boomboomboom,t-t,boomboomboom". F dood, and of course the drug culture comes back into play with it. With the assumption of 4/4 comes the assumption of narcotics. (((((as a side, errol astral tells me that their label does not promote this image, that the media are guilty for this. But, has anyone seen that fatboy video from last year for Rockafella what have you? Did you see the joint being passed to the breakdancer while they sat in a opium den? This was one of the only electronic based acts to get heavy rotation on MTV(get off the air) and what was portrayed? think about it))) and another thing, TRANCE> If it were not for the rise of ectasy, trance would die. Simple as that. There is no logical argument against this point. So, a complete style of music devoted to drug culture. GREAT!! And you wonder why the US Senate may pass a bill banning dj's from playing live for more than 20 people? (thisis really going on, it is scary as fuck). ((((on another side note, to eat my own words, so to say, Nightmares on Wax are really, really good.))))) what ever benine "my escalator stops for 'dancing with the lion'" _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Heaven help us. Could you - or somebody - please elaborate on this? This sounds even madder than the Criminal Justice Bill or whatever it's called. I thought life in South Africa was tough. And I played to about 70 people last night, heh heh :-/ I * --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Anybody sure about this one? Sounds pretty unlikely. Sure won't do much for block parties or weddings :) John --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

well there's already a law in the UK about "repetitive beats" and gatherings like this...it just takes one law man to look at the UK and create a copy cat law....dont wanna start a flame war, and the reason i left the states was the politics, but didnt that Tipper Gore woman have something to do with lyrics in hip hop and heavy metal a while back? Isnt her hubby running for Prez? Does anyone want us to have fun? I'm still trying to find out about why all the clubs in San Fran are having problems, I keep hearing rumours, but spose I'll get the downlo when I get out there...gee and I'll be in America just in time to exercise my right to vote...hmmmm At 3:33 pm +0800 23/10/00, John D. wrote:

im 100% positive it is full effect in Chicago, IL. A dj I know is up against a $10K fine for djing at a loft party in the city of Chicago. pretty fucking shittyy... its part of the "rave ban" law which states that no raves will be held within the city limits of Chicago. They define rave as a dj performance in front of more than 15 people at an unlicensed venue. parties still go off there...but at a much much smaller scale now. -m

Irene: I am looking like mad for this information. My knoweldge of this sittuation came to me from a online petition against this legislation. The petition in question orginated in Chicago, so perhaps it is a Illinois only thing. But still, if it starts one place, it could easily work its way other places. And Chicago isnt a minor club scene, you know? JJ from K-rad actually had the link up to the petition, i am trying to get the info from him on this. I will post the link as soon as i hear from him.
