technically. no. yet, if it's done by muslims, and in
good taste, it IS allowed. different beliefs, different
religions, but it's kind of like when madonna starting
dressing up in sacred indian ritual outfits, and purists
in india had gotten quite upset. NOT because she was
not indian, but because it's fucking madonna!
i mean, i've lived in california pretty much my whole
life, yet was born not many miles away from Mecca,
and despite my technical religion of being a shiite
muslim (which i mostly do not practice), i would be
pretty fucking upset if i flipped on a channel and saw
brittany spears parading around in some mutalated
version of a muslim "yikshambesoori".
yeah.

wrong.
there are pages out of the Koran that are
read word for word on at least three or four of the
tracks i own by him...not in arabic, not in turkish,
but in the farsi (persian) translation of the Koran.
and if i only own about 8 to 10
muslimgauze releases, im assuming there are many
more tracks along the same lines...
there's even one track,
that i think is on his Vampire of Tehran cd, that has a cutup
iranian female's voice talking about a terrorist attack intended
to destroy a american visitors embassy outside ahwaz, while
parts of the koran are solemnly sung over and over again
throughout the track.
how fucking crazy is that?
it's crazy that im a 23 year old iranian refugee
listening to muslimgauze.

yes. there are many young extremist iranians that
are very active in the current political changes that
are going on in iran, and they write a zine in farsi called
"Rouz-e-gaar-emshab" (roughly translated into "as the day
turns into night"),
and in that zine (which obviously doesn't contain their
real names), i've seen them mention the music of Muslimgauze
over three or four times in the past four or five years.
so yes, music has a way of making it's way into the
strangest places...
end.
i have to get back to work now.
uhm, oh yeah, go out and get the lowfish album.
still one the best releases of the year.
too bad it doesn't come with a free sweet potato pie.
