It's a good question. The answer's simple: Because IDM is a mailing list not
a music genre. I've always appreciated the way this list can cover artists
as diverse as Farmer's Manual and Autechre, two artists who absolutely do
not belong in the same "genre" section of the record store but certainly
belong on the IDM list.
Everyone on this list must repeat that to themselves over and over again.
