Can anyone tell me anything about this guy? Listening to 'Reflections On Reflections' right now and his remix of Shambala has got to be one of the most beautiful pieces of techno I've heard. I see his name pop up now and then on comps and such but other than that I don't know a whole heck of alot about him. Going through my Kirk Detroitio collection I'm pretty damn pleased no matter wehat people think about him, but the other day I saw one of his CD's at the shop that I don't have; I cannot remember what it is called, but it has a real short name and had a minimal black and white budget cover. I have 'In with their arps...', 'Art of Prophecy', and Reflections so it's none of those, anyone have a brief review of what I am talking about? Sorry I can't be more descriptive. All I know is, his own label is Ferox records and he lives 5 miles from me...i've spoken to him on the phone....quite a nice guy. Unfortunately, I know little about his music (having not heard much) but I think it's kind of funky/housey/leaning towards detroity... -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

Russ Gabriel also runs the fabulous Ferox label and records under several different guises on that label. For a taste of what Ferox has to offer pick up either the Adventures in Technosoul comp CD or the Ian O'Brien CD called Desert Scores. The Adventures in Technosoul comp contains remixes by Carl Craig, Russ Gabriel, Claude Young & Ian O'brien amongst others. It is a great comp from one of the more innovative techno labels. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

If you like UK Detroit-influenced "techno" from 93-95, you'll like this a lot. Adam --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Don't know this particular album, but [imo] you can't go far wrong with Russ Gabriel. What's he been up to recently? yes indeed this record has the classic UK Detroit sound, in a very delicate and gentle way. Highly recommended! And it is fairly rare so if you found a copy grab it...comparable to the Objets d'Art material or perhaps B12 or Steve Pickton only a little lighter... ciao nate Adam Huffman wrote:
