PowerCenter Pro 240Mhz 604e running MacOS 8.6 Cycling '74 Max/MSP - programming and sound design environment. Right now I use it for native sound generation and manipulation, but I plan on using it for sequencing and composition in the future. Alesis ADAT/Edit interface card for digital inputs (the Mac's AD/DA converters suck so I use the converters on the ADAT) Opcode Vision DSP for sequencing/recording/arranging/editing/mixing (soon to be replaced with Cubase or Logic Audio due to Opcode's demise) Peak 2.0 w/ Hyperprism Suite and Waveshell Suite for mastering, also for sample editing and management. ReCycle 1.7 for Sample slicing and management. If you use a sampler you should really check out ReCycle. Some people will tell you it's only useful for chopping up breakbeats but I have gotten some amazing textures from chopping up other noises and assigning them to a key-range. I love this program. Takes all the druge work out of sampling and lets you focus on creative sound design. When combined with Peak, they are a powerful duo bent on world domintation. I have played around with some software synths, notably ReBirth and Koblo. ReBirth is great for the 808/909 sounds but I am not a big 303 fanatic so I rarely use this except for playing around. Koblo has some very good capabilities. Very digital sounding but also very clean. Some latency problems if you try to play it live but a faster system might take care of that. Hope this helps, good luck. josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Thu, 11 May 2000 Iacchus5@webtv.net wrote:

I have acquired a copy of this, and was wondering if you knew of a good tutorial (online or otherwise) or other resources for VDSP. If I ever get some real $$ I think I'll be going to Logic, but for now I have to work with what I've got. It's a good step up from my old bare-bones sequencing software, but the documentation is quite difficult to work with. Any tips/suggestions/help will be greatly apprecated. t h a n k s ! :: e v a n k. s t o n e :: m u l t i m e d i a l i v e :: p e t a l u m a, c a, u s a ------------------------------ :: mailto:evan@mmlive.com :: http://www.mmlive.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Guitar Center has these books (blue covered spiral bound dealys) on how to use various software/hardware items. I think I saw one there about Vision once, but I am not sure. Check it out, usually they're in a rack near the keyboard/software section. I'm sure other stores carry these as well. Also try Amazon.com or something, there might be a "Learn Digital Audio with Vision" or some such book. Hope this helps josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Thu, 11 May 2000 Evan@mmlive.com wrote:
