It is in fact a remix album of tracks originally recorded by Amp, Flying
Saucer Attack, Hood and Crescent, but the tracks were altered so strongly
that it can just as well be seen as a regular 3rd Eye Foundation LP. It's
definitely the weirdest of his three albums. At times it sounds a bit like
Ghost, but more experimental. It's got five tracks: "Eternity" has distorted
drum'n bass rhythms (not as frantic as on Ghost) with chopped up vocals and
bits of guitar flying around in the back. "Short wave dub" is similar, a bit
slower. Strange sounds all around. "Superconstellation" sounds like a looped
bit of the original drums & bass with all sorts of sounds fading in and out
and over. Lazy and boring track, rumbles on like a mudstream for 10 minutes.
"Eyes" is a drone track without rhythm with sudden drop-ins of (what I think
are) pieces of the original song. "Way out like David Bowman" sounds like
the wind is blowing hard outside, and you can just make out someone playing
with his sampler and tapes in the next room, but only just. Which goes on
for about 17 minutes.
Not the best thing he's done IMO. I prefer Ghost and Semtex.
Amp, incidently, have a new album out as well. Astralmoonbeamprojections (on
Kranky) is more atmospheric dreaminess, but more experimental than the
previous album. Nice one.
