Hello, Does anyone know what to expect of Pan Sonic or Suicide live? I am very familiar with Pan Sonic's recorded works, but have heard very little Suicide. Also, has anyone seen mu-ziq live recently? Does he improvise or stray from his recorded sound? Thanks in advance! cheers frank ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Panasonic's live show for me was riveting. Yes, they just stand there and twiddle knobs. But they are charismatic while they do it, very intense and focused. And their sound is very BIG and threatening. I wish, however, that live they would lean more towards their beat/dance-oriented stuff for at least 20 minutes in a row (instead of breaking up dancable stretches with noisy meandering stuff) so people can get their grooves on.

i enjoyed panasonic's show quite a bit. they definitely do not just play a dat or whatever people like that do. i barely recognized most of what they played despite having almost their entire catalog. seems to be a high rate of improvisation, could be wrong though. the sine wave/visual thing is also very cool as there is nothing else to look at and dancing would be difficult as well. i agree that a slightly regular beat would enhance the show greatly. bring earplugs. cl --- clietz@enteract.com On Wed, 19 Jan 2000 14:19:08 Chris Fahey wrote:

ok, i just saw Jim O'rourke play live at Knitting Factory with a drummer and a harp player. It was really awesome ambient music. Is there any good Jim O'rourke releases that anyone can recomend? Tomorow Carl Craig/Innerzone Orchestra is playing there with Spacetime Continuum for $15. Should I go??? I really hated spacetime's new album when i heard it with all its sax solos n' stuff. Will live be more of that? and i dont know what to expect from Innerzone Orchestra ? can anyone offer their opinion on whether this's a good show??? I dont have to ask about Suicide/Pan sonic. that seems like a sure thing. thanks for your help. there is some old O'Rourke records on Extreme that I recall being quite good and ambient. Also, there was one on Tzadik about 2 years ago, name escapes me... I still listen to his Eureka record almost weekly. Excellent experimental-pop record in Brian Wilson/Van Dyke Parks style. Last time I saw Spacetime live it was much more full on then the last record. He was playing with a sax player, but the sax was less smooth and a little more raging than on the record. I quite enjoyed it. Don't forget Silver Apples (backed by members of UI), DJ Food, and Mt Vernon Arts Lab on the Sunday. Come by and say hi. I'll be there with P.C and Strictly doing the press tour thing for the new record. Jeff
