Good points, I would add though that innovation is expermentation that works because it is *musical*. A lot of people experiment with something but then fail to transfor what starts as an interesting technique/technical idea into a new medium for expression. I think you can tell while you are "expermineting" what is musical and what is not - IF - you are able to be objective and musical to begin with.

Right, well both are interesting. And B) music can often be driving future innovation much as a good album pushes a genre in a direction as other's join the "sound" and copy it... even if it is not innovative.

Agree with all these comments. Oddly enough I also said this exact same comment to someone just a few weeks ago. Richard has the talent to do something incredible, but often I feel like the music isn't taken seriously enough. It's a shame. At least, this is the image he projects to me.
