Deciding on what to press before you have any idea of what you might sell is "putting the cart before the horse" (as my grey haired grandmother would say).
Approach a suitable distributor FIRST, so they can give you a realistic "stab" at what the sales potential might be. ALWAYS work on the basis that you can repress if the initial run sells out. Even though you might get a slightly better unit price by pressing more, any saving will be lost if you have a few hundred unsold pieces sitting in your garage.
NEVER believe anyone's sales figures. Labels/Artists/Distributors (almost) always lie ! (we don't, of course ;) ). I have lost count of the amount of times i have been told a single has sold 2,000/3,000, only to find on investigation that it REALLY shifted < 1000.
Good Luck !!
