Great thread, Philip. I hope others follow like this. The first Warp track I bought was on a rough-hewn mixtape from DJ Michael Sanchez, Tulsa's (then) premier club DJ. He mixed LFO's "We Are Back" into everything from Ministry to Laiback to Front 242 to TKK and it sounded weird but great to my high school ears, 'cos industrial was all the rage in Tulsa in the late 80s. I bought the 12" from Mohawk Music (R.I.P.) but didn't come across Warp again until a couple years later, when I happened into another Tulsa store and found Polygon Window and the first two Universal Indicators on the wall. Bought all three. Fell in love with PW, noticed that it was number "four in a series," and immediately stopped buying Belgian new beat. I mean, how could I listen to Antler Subway material after Bytes? It's a love affair that carries on to this day... laz --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
