I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
Labelling all music which contains lyrics delivered in a rapping manner, as opposed to the traditionally more commonly used singing manner is about as insightful as calling all European dance-music Euro-Dance. I don't think "Snoop Doggy Fucking Dogg" is a favourite amongst people on this list (although a lot of his work with Dr. Dre pre-Doggy Style is definitely a-okay in my book).
And whatever one may think of Eminem's "personality" it can hardly be denied that he is a damn fine rapper and in my opinion probably the most talented white rapper of all time.
Give some of these records a chance and perhaps you'll change your opinion. And if you don't, well there's still millions of angry black men out there dying to spend their (stolen) money on the records of these crack-smokin', hoe-pimpin' criminals.
Boogie Down Productions - Criminal Minded LP (as sampled by Mike P.)
EPMD - Strictly Business LP
Eric B. And Rakim - Paid In Full LP
Ultramagnetic MC's - Critical Beatdown LP (as sampled by Gescom)
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - Mecca And the Soul Brother LP / The Creator 12"
Del the funkee Homosapien - No Need For Alarm LP
Jeru da Damaja - The Sun Rises In The East LP
Gangstarr - Step In The Arena LP
Nas - Illmatic
Cheerio,
Erlend
