From today's edition of the Montreal Gazette (local newspaper): Top 20 singles - montreal metro - week of Feb. 4 -------------------------------------------------------------- this nationally artist/title week -------------------------------------------------------------- 1 1 madonna/don't tell me ... 4 5 jennifer lopez/love don't cost a thing ... 6 11 destiny's child/independent woman pt. 1 ... 10 29 boards of canada/in a beautiful place... ... 12 13 madonna/music (maxi-single) ... 16 53 autechre/vol 2-peel session -------------------------------------------------------------- This isn't from college radio charts; it's from retail record sales. Is (Warp-labelled) IDM breaking into the mainstream? (I know that some Warp singles have charted in the UK before.) Or is the explanation more mundane? e.g. the "Montreal Metro" area just happens to be more receptive to electronica, or sales of pop-music/mainstream *singles* are so low that electronica singles manage to chart. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
