For those with any interest in Max Tundra, possibly curious about his recent album, I'd recommend getting the Pitchcadet/aii compilation "Cataract Beats." shoddy packaging, but excellent content. Pitchcadet is shaping up to be a nice label. Anyway, Max has a track exclusive on that compilation called 'doggy biscuits' -- it well represents the average sound of the new album. The only problem is that the folks at aii (now joined with pitchcadet) didn't know when they produced the CD that he had submitted the track in 48khz. The mastered it on the CD at 44khz, so it sounds slower/lower than it should. But if you want, you can fix this by ripping it to a WAV and adjusting the rate in CoolEdit or some such. Changes it a little but not too much. aii used to have this info up on their web page, but it's gone now. IMO, it's good either way. The rest of that compilation is good, too. excellent tracks from datathief, commercial, m-tec, and more. "sega" from michael fakesch's "marion" album is on it, as is a track from funkstorung and one from v/vm. I'm not too hot on the vvm or funkstorung tracks, but "sega" is my favorite from Marion, so that's nice. -adam -- Adam Piontek [http://www.tcinternet.net/users/damek/] ICQ: 3456339 [damek@earthling.net] ...
