Elliot 'Phonem' Perkins' previous 12", 'Phonetik' on the
Morr Music label, sounded to me like Autechre' most melodic
moments, so I was eager to hear this new release.
This collection is of some of his earlier work, and the
tracks featured have a harder edge, more hip hop influenced
side to them, than those on the previous 12". This isnt a bad
thing though, as the whole LP flows along there are melodies
and rhythms oozing out of every track. With vocal snippets in
several of the tracks and broken beats this release makes
enjoyable listening...
Phonem is currently working on new material for various
labels and also a collaboration with Arovane.
