Yeah, Radical Connector is hot shit. This is actually their first new one in three years, so if you haven't checked out Idiology, you should certainly do so. You can see how they ended up here from there, and there from Niun Niggung. Definitely will be in my top ten, whatever that means. Radical Connector is great, but it's quite a bit different than Ideology IMO. Honestly, I'm surprised that MoM took such a straight-forward funk/electronic direction on this album. Ideology was all over the friggen place: noise, prog rock, strings, horns, glitch, guitar, you name it. Ideology was absolutely CRAMMED with ideas and instrumentation. Radical Connector is a bit more sparse and focused. Both are undeniably MoM, though. BTW, if you want to really impress a friend who doesn't like electronic music or who thinks that a live IDM performance is just some geek tweaking knobs on his laptop, you need to take them to a Mouse on Mars show. I agree with this, although that's sorta what I was saying. MoM have never really done the same thing from album to album. There might be hints of past stuff, and you can always feel that it's them, but I've never felt like "Oh yeah, this is just like everything on..." And yeah, Idiology is just crazy like that. It's pretty amazing how they can pull off starting out with Actionist Respoke and end up with Fantastic Analysis without a hitch. Great, great album.
