yeah, this is a great album. I plan to include 'pass by' and 'grunt' in some of
my dj sets. Those who bought to 2cd set (as opposed to the 12"+7"+cd set) might
have missed out on one of the album's nuances - that the two last songs on the
cd - 'le desir' and 'sleep' - don't really fit with the rest of the album. It
seems, to me, that Welcome Tourist is meant to be experienced as three separate
works - the lp (1st nine tracks) has its own distinct sound, the 7" has a
somewhat different sound (what with the vocals & all) and the 'take your time'
cd has its own sort of identity.
'take your time' was, imho, a little self-indulgent - the song structure seems
kind of lazy and takes way too long to become interesting. If it were me, I
would have just left it off the album, but hey - i'm not bernard fleishmann, am
I?
