Distribution shouldn't affect what's on the discs, surely? I know that US CD manufacturers will only guarantee a 74 minute disc length, so the US version may vary.

The limited CD I have has the following after Seefeel: Darrel Fitton - Blipsalt and then the other three tracks. I was under the impression that the Polygon Window track was on the non-limited edition as well - it would seem a little bit odd to leave off a track by one of the biggest names on the compilation.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Since this clearly isn't on the US limited double CD on Wax Trax, I have to ask why, back in June, KRAKHED@AOL.COM went ballistic when mikebee suggested that the US issue might be missing tracks:
quoted 12 lines for the last time..THE DOMESTIC IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE IMPORT!!(with the> for the last time..THE DOMESTIC IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE IMPORT!!(with the >exception of the metallic gold ink which makes the type too hard to read if >you ask me). > >I'm really sorry if you guys have bought comps in the past with tracks >missing on the domestic but that's not the way WAX tRAX does business.to my >knowledge we (WAX TRAX) have never released a comp or LP without all the >tracks from the import.I'm kinda pissed off that just cause other domestic >labels have cut tracks that you would assume that we would.REMEMBER..i'm just >as into this stuff as you are. >PLEASE RELAX . >I'LL TAKE CARE OF IT.
He can't claim that since it isn't on the import CD, it shouldn't be on the US CD, since "Maritime" isn't on the UK CD, but it's on the US. So I ask, why was "Metalurg" left off, and why wasn't KRAKHED straight with us about the fact that it was being left off? I wouldn't be complaining, if not for the fact that I was led to believe that I was getting everything, by somone indignant about it. hmm. well, weird stuff happens all the way... but in this case it's all my fault:
quoted 5 lines The limited CD I have has the following after Seefeel:>The limited CD I have has the following after Seefeel: > >Darrel Fitton - Blipsalt > >and then the other three tracks.
oh yes the rough trade version also has this. apologies! the listings are typed in prose here... easy to overlook something...

right. i don't really think this "limited" business is a good idea anyway.

That's because the Red Book, the document produced by Philips and Sony that defines the CD format, specifies a maximum length of 74 minutes. Any CD longer than this technically contravenes the standard, though in practice you can bend the rules a little and get away with it..... Cosmic

Limited vinyl has a 12" with tracks by Fitton and Larkin, but I don't know what (presumably the Larkin one is "Maritime"). After a couple of weeks of playing it, I think I can safely say it is one of my half dozen favourite albums of the year, so far. Andrew. This "limited edition" stuff is starting to get tedious. I realize it's a hype device to ensure that a record makes a big splash on the oh-so-important UK indie charts in its first week, but it contributes to the collector-skum mentality and trainspotting. Besides, "Maritime" is one of the best tracks on AI2, and it seems a shame that anyone who hesitates a bit before buying the record won't get it. My two cents, discount at will. ----------------------------------------------------------------- dave walker, detroit art services marmoset@msen.com me & my robots

(Kenny's track is certainly one of the best tracks on AI2). Those marketing tricks are really making me sick too. I mean if the music is so important, why didn't they put the second Darrel Fitton track (the one on the 12" or something :( ) on the 'limited' CD as well? There's plenty of space on it..... Just compare AI2 to TEX2. On TEX2 there's more music, a very interesting book _without_ pretentious bollocks and it's the same price. But OK, let's get back to music again!! sorry. I agree completely. But if Wax Trax releases *ALL* the various AI2 tracks on 2 cds, I *swear* I'll never bad mouth them again. However, the June URB magazine indicates on page 51 reports the following: "Scott Taves has just left a four year career as A&R Director at Wax Trax records to start a futuristic label that's part of the Reactor interactive game company. Scott is responsible for The Artificial Intelligence Series, Autechre, and the Ethno Techno compilation, all for Wax Trax." I assume by 'responsible', they mean not in releasing them initially, but bringing them to the States. Didn't someone (Pete Ashdown maybe?) report once that he/she got a fax indicating that the entire Warp back catalog was being re-issued domestically?
