Subject: new 808 state single!
Here's info on a new 808 state single. I don't know if it's THE new 808
state single as I will explain. Basically, I work in a record store.
A friend of the managers came in with a promo copy of the new 808
state single. I was very interested but since we had no record player
at work, I could not listen to it. I did write down all the info
knowing that people would want to know. The single is called Bombadin
and the track listing is below. The sleeve is plain, white and has a
sticker on it mention that it is 808 state. This sticker also say
"American Exlusive." That couple with the fact that the song is
co-written by Tommy Boy (808 State's U.S. record label) label-mates,
K-7, and I have doubts whether this will be on the new album or come
out in England at all. It's possible this won't be a Ztt release and
hence it won't be THE new 808 state single. Make sense? Oh well, I
tried. I called a record store in Hollywood and they said they
should have it this Friday, the 10th. I'm assuming this is a
domestic release only but "American Exclusive" could also apply to
the mixes of the song. We shall see I suppose. Anyway, here's the
scoop:
808 State: Bombadin single [June 1994]
12": 1994 US (Tommy Boy 631 - "tb631")
5:39 Bombadin (barta mix)
4:43 Bombadin (original quica)
4:58 Bombadin (bombapella)
4:54 Marathon (club 12" mix)
Printed on the record label itself, it says "promotional use only" so
I don't know if this is going to be the exact track listing when it
actually comes out this week. Both tracks (Bombadin and Marathon)
were produced by 808 State. Bombadin was written by 808 State, K7,
J. Gardner, G. Drummond. Anybody recognize the last two names? Just
curious, they look kind of familiar. Marathon was written by 808
State.
Oh, did I mention that this promo was on clear green vinyl?! Neat!
