A while back a few posters remarked that they'd had trouble finding some
of the Underground Resistance-related material that had been discussed on
IDM. I stopped by my old place today to pick up my mail and found the
latest catalog from Submerge waiting there.
From the catalog: "Submerge was formed by various members of Detroit's
underground in January of 1993."
Basically, Submerge distributes material from UR, Red Planet, Happy,
Generator, Metroplex, Simply Soul, and 430 West. According to an insert
in the mailing, they just picked up distribution for Dow, Planet E(!),
Transmat(!), KMS(!), and Basic Channel(!!!)
They also sell some other cool stuff, like UR slipmats and original
artwork from some of the folks who do sleeves and label art.
Anyway, call (313) 963-1025 to be placed on their mailing list.
They seem to do about 3 or 4 mailings a year.
Disclaimer:
I have nothing whatsoever to do with Sumberge. I just like the tunes...
Other stuff:
picked up a stack of records yesterday that I haven't had a chance
to listen to yet. Among them was a new 2-CD comp ($14.99!) from Instinct
that features tracks from netters Terre Thaemlitz & Taylor 808.
Also bought FSOL's _Lifeforms_: look for Curmudgeon's Review soon
(just kidding!) ;)
