Ok Brad, seems my point drowned in my drivel. One thing I meant was:
A difference between techno and most other genres is that in the techno genre
the producer and the artist usually is the same person. That provides for an
incorporation of the production in the very making of the song, not just as
some musical make-up.
Unfortunately, most of the musicmakers in this genre aren't very good at
producing music and/or composing melodies. (Rhythm seems to be the forte.)
I get bored with music that aren't well produced *and* "well composed".
I find it *annoying* when people call tracks 'empty' just because the bias is
not on the traditional melodies etc. There *are* other dimensions too.

Sorry if I made that impression, cuz in *my* world the producer *is* a
musician. Artists denying the importance of production are IMHO trapped in
an obsolete way of looking at the world of music, and are poor musicians...
