for a drum machine emulator, i would say the obvious choice is fruity loops, though you can also use hammerhead (which is so easy to use a four year old could do it, but it's a tad limited) or even audiomulch (which has a drum machine component, but that might be a bit too heavy; depends on the use you want to make of it.) fruity loops allows for pretty much everything you can hope from a drum machine... & it even allows you to sequence other samples into melodies as well, so you can build an entire song with just that. ~ david --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

http://www.master-zap.com/ I use this program called "Little drummer boy." (yes, it's a bad name) It is really great and very flexible. I use it for both making wav loops out of drum samples and synth sounds. It lets you do any time signature, and even has the option for doing multiple hits on each beat so you can get stuttering sounds, etc. It also does beat stretching, and a limited amount of processing to the sounds too (resonance filtering, distortion). Enter the main page and then go to "software." LDB needs this other program "stomper" to function properly, but both programs are written by the guy who runs the site, and both are free to download. Stomper is a softsynth program that is geared towards drum sounds but can really be used for any sort of sounds... dh-10,rubberduck,stomper,fruityloops and whatever. your best bet is getting a good sample prog like wavelab or = soundforge,and recording them from there. that way,once you have your loops running,you can record them with fx = over the top,afx style :=AC) saying that,you need an editor to sequence the files. acid is good and simple. col
