<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Trance 4 is a hot compilation. Great housey-trance. I say housey because it's not as fast as hard trance, but it can really put you on a trip. As a matter of fact, check out Trance 2 and 3 as well. 1 wasn't that good, but 2, 3, and 4 are all great compilations. Every single song on these discs is good, which is pretty surprising for a comp. actually, i thought the series took a sharp turn for the worse after V2. i liked 1 & 2 a lot. 3 was pretty bad. I haven't heard 4 yet tho. i think this stuff is much more in the progressive house camp rather than any form of trance, but, hey, it's their dime, they can call it what they like... /jon

I agree. . . btw, aren't dance definitions getting just a tad out of hand? I mean, just about anything could be labeled "progressive". . . er. . . except for "garage". . . and "hardcore", and "hardtrance" (or is that "progressive breakbeat?" . . . :-) (just kidding, i realize the terminology fills a purpose) I don't really care about what anyone calls a music style, *except* for "trance". [whining follows]: Trance used to have a religious meaning to a lot of people! And the Shamen, T. McKenna, and the "Trance" collections ruins it all. *whine, whine*, *sob, sob*. (Just my $0.02) I guess i can't stop people from using the term, and i don't really see any reason to either. Problem is, now what do i call what i do to didgeridoo and shaman drums? -- Petter Karlstrom cl2pkarl@cling.gu.se . . .Know Your Self. . .

overall i don't think V4 measures up either.. it has a few nice songs, but overall the only track on it i would consider in the *stellar* category is underworld's fantastic remix of mental generation's 'cafe del mar' (no relation to energy 52's 'cafe del mar'!) - a mix that is around 100bpm and includes hip hop style beats with that recognizable underworld sound.. (could be slower than 100 now that i think about it) now that's not to say V4 is bad, it's much better than your run of the mill dance compilation.. but compared to V2 it's just not there.. much more suggested is another compilation that came out around the same time as trance 4, cream of the underground house 2.. includes underworld's rez, slam's positive education, rejuvination's requiem, and some other decent ones..
