Feed Your Head
Alot of "techno" compilations come through my store every month, but recently one came in that impressed me significantly (hard to do these days since I started pulling out my old Marvin Gaye records again..) Anyways, here's the poop: Feed Your Head : Various Artists BARK CD 002 (Planet Dog) 1. Astralasia : Twilight Whirl 2. The Drum Club : Furry Meadows (DogStar Mix) 3. Eat Static : Kothluwalawa *this track is _outstanding_! 4. BancoDeGaia : Qurna (Haj Ali's Birthday Mix) 5. Pressure of Speech : Surveillance 6. OpticEye : Blue Dreamers 7. The Knights of the Occasional Table : Rain 8. Tuu : 1000 years 9. System 7 : Habibi (The Camel Mix) *remixed by Mr. Falconer 10. Nodens Ictus : Plurlgnrium 11. The Ullulators : ...And Hardly any Ears! All in all, this is a wholly impressive compilation, clocking in at just under 74 minutes. Usually (i.e. as in the Ambient Dub Series) there are always a few booty tracks on each compilation, but this one shines brightly without any dogs to speak of. Well worth the trip (pun intended). Also, it includes little bios on each of the bands (hey Beyond, there's an Idea!!) and also and address for bedroom musicians to send their tapes. A 9.75, imho. Apollo!

For those who didn't know, Planet Dog is the home label of avant art rockers Ozric Tentacles, whose IDM/ambient incarnation is Eat Static. Anyway, my friend is the exclusive US distributor of Planet Dog stuff, and be contacted in Wyandotte, MI at: Bryan R. Caillouette The Music Broker, Ltd. (313) 284-2212 Fax: (313) 284-2982 I have no commercial interest blah blah blah... Bryan just happens to be really good at tracking down hard to find stuff. | Dave Walker, Detroit Art Services (DAS) | | "I don't read, I just guess" | | marmoset@msen.com -Happy Mondays, "Wrote For Luck" |

I agree totally, an excellent compilation (very ambient) and with strange bird/watery noises in the links between tracks. Buy it if you're into ambient stuff... __ Steve Marshall email: S.Marshall@uk.ac.swansea work: U.C.
