Hey, all! Guess what I got yesterday? DREAMFISH (MixMaster Morris and ... oh, shit I forgot the other person) Rising High Records, RSN LP9, double LP This is pretty different from the Irresistible Force. Mellower, without that phase-sequencing Morris is famous for, and darker in mood toward the last couple of tracks, but definitely his touch. The very first track is an Analogue masterpiece if I ever heard one. If you liked IR, you'll definitely need this one. BTW: there's a credit reference to the "Aphex Fish" AMORPHOUS ANDROGENOUS - has "Mountain Goat" and "Sky Scraper" Astralwerks (Caroline Records) Well, I liked it alot better when I though it spun at 33BPM! Actually, "Mountain Goat" at 33 is beautiful. It holds up at 45, too ;) The other two tracks are kinda rave-y for me. Beach Flea EP Other Records - 002 This is an awsome dub-house EP. Three of the four tracks are very nice dance/dub, a fourth called "Indalo" is kinda poppy euro-house :( But definitely worth it overall!

Terre! I have a FAX record by DreamFish but it's one record and on FAX, probably the original release of it. School of Fish on one side and Fishology on the other. I've seen the CD by DreamFish (also on FAX) and it has 4 tracks so you probably got the vinyl version of this. I understand Rising High is releasing a back catalogue of FAX records under their label. Where did you get your copy? Hopefully I'll find one in England, my flight is in 8 hours! That other person besides Mixmaster Morris is Pete Namlook. If you didn't know it by now, Pete is Mr. FAX records himself. He did an album with Dr. Atmo under the name Silence which I found on (double vinyl) on Rising High a few months ago. If you haven't heard this one, I suggest you *run* and get it as it's some of the PHATTEST ambient stuff I've ever heard. Not so electronic sounding as the usual P. Namlook stuff usually is (look at your Chill Out or Die! record, he's credited a few times on there and has a track on his own there too) but more tribal-esque almost. BEAUTIFUL! I'm also on the look out for Silence II. Regarding the Amorphous Androgynous, if you haven't bought their album, also RUN and get it. This is, IMHO, one of the best releases this year and earns the title of "intelligent dance music" while it has some traced out ambient stuff on it. I saw this 12" and two of the tracks, Mountain Goat and I believe Liquid Insects are straight off the album so I didn't buy it. I wasn't that crazy about Sky Scrapper so I didn't buy it. enjoy! You're right; "Mountain Goat" and "Liquid Insects" are the album versions, their only advantage being that they are the only Amorphous Androgynous cuts you can get on vinyl domestically (USA). "Sky Scraper", as Jon Drukman said, is a lot like their more traditional stuff on Earth Beat; it doesn't sound like it belongs on Tales of Ephidrina, but I have to say that I like the track a lot anyway. It seems to be using more advanced instrumentation, like the Tales of Ephidrina tracks. Also it is fairly dancey. Mike Mike J. Er, credit where credit's due... it was Pete Ashdown who made the comparison. I still haven't heard Sky Scraper although I am DYING to. Maybe I'll go record shopping tonight.
