Any of you that have recently, or not so recently, lost faith in IDM must go out and get a copy of the new Kiln album on Ghostly.. Beats that pop and snap over floating melodies that remind me of what idm was like ten years ago. Well thought out and well produced. It's also rare to see an idm act these days that's more than a solo act. Three people make up Kiln, yet they're able to leave out all non-electronic instruments, which is a plus considering half the idm releases these days are filled with guitars, drums, bass, etc... Not that those things are necessarily a negative aspect, but it's nice to see three people get together and push just the elctronic side of idm. Now i'm spouting off.. Regardless, there seems to still be hope in the world of idm. -kiya www.selfedge.com www.turfsm.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It doesn't not at all... Like I said earlier, I've been on this list for about 12 years and I've listened to IDM and Rockabilly for over 12 years and I have certain psychotic notions about the music I listen to that carries through every last second of anything I hear. I was merely saying that it's refreshing to hear an IDM album that didn't feel the need to include analog instruments in the recording because that seems to the be status quo for any other artist within the last five years or so. -kiya On 12/9/07 9:39 PM, "Matt Wilder" <grewaru@gmail.com> wrote:

I know what is meant here, and am likewise quite happy to entertain music involving guitars that just *happens to have* guitars in it rather than flaunting its 'guitarity' as some form of injection of we're-so-worthy 'organic' and/or (bogus) 'musicianly' credibility (indirectly diminishing synthesizers and acousmatics. etc), or just jumping on the post-indietronica bandwagon.
