Hi, I just discovered that Venetian Snares is playing in my hometown next month :=) But then I found that he has live recordings on his homepage, and I must say I was put down a bit by hearing them. I really enjoyed "Rossz Csillag Alatt Született", and I wonder how you guys think he is live? Is it just noise like that stuff I heard on his homepage, or can I expect that he plays something from his recent albums? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

His live show is hit or miss. Either way I think it beats out most other live electronic producer shows. He uses CDJ decks and messes with his material on burned discs and it can be a lot better than that might sound. You should definitely go and hope for a 2 hour good mood Aaron and hopefully not a 30 minute ehhh-ron. On 5/1/06, Thomas Jespersen <front243@stofanet.dk> wrote:

I've caught various incarnations of Snares over the years (including a rare performance of the Venetian Snares Drum & Bass Ensemble - featuring Not Half and Greg [of Greg Hates Car Culture fame - yes, it is an actual person])... What he does with CDJ decks must be seen to be believed, and it's truly disturbing to see the way he can meld complex time signatures together and rip apart tracks to build something that is sometimes noisier, sometimes more chaotic, sometimes more beautiful, but always live. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The work is interesting, cause the Rossz album did really well. I was sold. Trying to listen to any of his other works is "trying" for me. Meathole, for instance. It is a mind f$%#k. Definitely not for the sensitive stomach. But, Rossz demonstrates a superior ability and kicked ass. Money and reviews mean nothing to Fink. --- Thomas Jespersen <front243@stofanet.dk> wrote:

i went to see him by myself late at night a couple years ago somewhere in DUMBO in brooklyn... it was cool SEEing him... he's a long, straggly haired hermit looking dude... which made me love him more... yeah, it was sort of a lot of speed drill-n-bass stuff, but it was awesome none the less (i'm not crazy about that aspect of his style, but live it's pretty fun)... personally, i didn't like Rossz hardly at all... WinterInTheBelly is ace, and my favorite so far... HugeChrome is probably my second favorite... and shit. the samples of the NEXT full-length on the Planet-Mu site are unbelievable... he is unstoppable, and honestly, i think it's hard to argue (whether you love him or not), that he is heir to the aphex/squrepusher/mu-ziq throne...
