I've not yet heard the album, but there's a neat live set featuring some of the tracks off of it free to download up on 4four.org, which should allow many who've not yet experienced the Fake sound to sample and decide for themselves whether there's any more to the claims than just merely hype. Having said that, I've personally found listening to his dance floor targeted releases to be nothing short of an absolute treat ! Equals parts emotive and intelligent. Encouraging that the "tech-house" scene may yet start to credibly deliver onto us an assuredly "danceable" intelligent dance music afterall... some of the time anyways. If you haven't already done so, go and take down Dinamo as proof. One of my favourite tracks of the last year. Handsome stuff altogether. |---------+----------------------------> | | Alan.R.Lockett@br| | | istol.ac.uk | | | | | | 29/03/2006 23:45 | | | | |---------+----------------------------> >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: thorsten sideb0ard <thorsten@highpointlowlife.com> | | cc: idm@hyperreal.org | | Subject: Re: [idm] Belong - October Language | >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Quoting thorsten sideb0ard <thorsten@highpointlowlife.com>:

Right. The Nathan Fake I know is miles away from MBV, apart perhaps from 'The Sky was Pink', which betrays vague Shieldsisms in its digitised slightly overdriven chord sustains. The rest I've heard sounds like a variant of tech-house to me, be it ever so slightly off- kilter. Dunno if 'Outhouse' is on the album, but that 12" track was a very BoC-sounding warbly synth 'riff' taken for a sort of 'knowing' bangin' techno outing. Entertaining, but more 'dance' in it than er... 'intelligence'. I don't think Fake's fake, he's just been touted by some as something he ain't. alan --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

that mix is pretty good, a lot of its from the album, just over half i think, comparing the tracklisting of the set and the album track names. Dismissing the hype, i've found myself returning to this album quite a lot in the past few days, and had this live set on repeat at work yesterday. grows on you. ----- Anyone going to the big Seed Soviet party in London tonite? Really good lineup with Modeselektor, Neil Landstrumm, B12, but i'm going to see Greg Kowalski tonite, and moving house tomorrow (and getting old!) thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
