the music starts at 9 and goes the whole night. the event is absolutely packed and the lines went all the way to madison avenue last month - people don't get in. I'm not exaggerating - I had friends that i was supposed to meet there last time and they never made it through the door. I would advise you to come early. .sander nat hawks wrote:

one last note - the reason it's packed also makes for a bit of an odd crowd - about half are people that like to go to shows and dance and see djs and live music. the other half are rich new york socialites that go there because it's an event at the guggenheim they should be seen at. plus they keep the lights on because of all the art, so don't expect a typical dark show with nice lighting packed with funkstorung fans... just thought i'd throw that out there. i still have a good time, but it's definitely something to get used to. nat hawks wrote:

eh , as it was a bit chilly last night to wait in a line, and i must say, i don't know how much i would dig an 'acid' set... anyone go? reviews? me and my lady ended up opting to go to see a theremin orchestra at a cool new space in carrol gardens... http://www.issueprojectroom.org fucking unbelievable... saw four individual performers, then they all played together... snuck some red wine in... this one felow built a polyphonic theremin (?!) and freaked the fuck out with it, sending it through this wild, like, 20-channel ceiling hung speaker system... yoinks!!!!

unimpressed. it's not that there was anything that bad or that i disliked, there just wasn't anything that good either. it just wasn't anything special.
