Both Andrew and Paul came from classical music backgrounds to form Tinkertoy in 2000 -- a project that has since evolved into a unique style of washy, sometimes melodic techno. Tinkertoys music is about the discovery of beauty in sundry noise. Their sound palette is developed through an extensive process of sampling outdoor environments and natural instruments and remodeling those samples using their own programmed software. Tinkertoy's sound is always based on experimentation, and they bring this approach to their live performances. naw - noise factory recordings / vague terrain / http://www.naw.phoniq.net Montreal native Neil Wiernik currently living in Toronto, began his explorations in electronic music making as early as 1988. Known to push the boundaries of his musical form from designing new or manipulating existing sound making devices and software to creative uses of production environments and sound sources, naw's music is a blend of sound manipulation/design, experimental musics and dub-tech rhythms, which on the surface sound quite simple, but incorporate a number of touches that steer this artist away from being simply another minimal techno or experimental laptop artist. He combines post-house, dubby minimal techno, microsound and thick ambience, to create his own version of deep techno, house and other electronic laptop oriented musics. Neil has released music on various national and international record labels, including releases on Noise Factory, Complot, Clevermusic, Piehead and Pertin_nce. As naw, Neil has performed extensively along side a variety of national and international artists both in and outside of Canada. In 2004 and 2005 naw will released his follow up noise factory record full length called: "green nights orange days", as well as a full length outing with Pertin_nce Records called: "terrain vague". These two records find Neil at his deepest, dubbiest and most experimental sounding yet. The release of these records will coincide with a series of North American and European tour dates through out 2005. aidan baker - http://www.aidanbaker.org Aidan Baker is a Toronto-based musician and writer. As a solo artist, he explores the deconstructive possibilities of the electric guitar creating music that ranges from &/or encompasses ambient/experimental to electronica to post-rock. He has released numerous albums on such labels as Drone Records, Piehead Records, Zunior Records, & Die Stadt Musick. ================================ www.vagueterrain.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey everyone! I have been attending this festrival for the past 8 years called The Autonomous Mutant Festival. It's a bit on the Burning Man tip,but usualy delivers some really cool electro, drum-n-bass, teckno, hard techno, ambient, experimental, cool anarchist street theatre, circus performances (truly amaxing----one year I saw a woman come within 2 hula hoops of breaking the world record and saw the same gal tightrope walk over a 300 ft. ravine---- barefoot) and truly creative "out there" theme camps--- this year there is 35 different theme camps with most soundsystems comparable to what Free Cascadia had at Phoenix And the kicker is....... IT'S FREE!!!!!! I am going to post the link to the website and this years directions. it is about and hour and a half outside of Seattle (which is great because last year it was down in Shasta county) here's the link: www.mutantfest.org and the directions: Pre-direction notes: there is a river ,so if you desire you can bring a water filter and water containers. You can also fill up with water at the Shell station mentioned below. If you want to play musick, bring gas and containers. here are the directions: (from Seattle, WA) General: the site is in the Gilford Pinchot Nat'l Forest. BASIC DIRECTIONS: from the north: I-5 to the US-12 east US 12 east to the 23 23 to road #2801 Just on the Cispus river in The Gifford Pinchot National Forrest
quoted 1 line From the North On 1-5>> From the North On 1-5
- traveling down I-5 north you'll be on the look-out for signs marking the US-12 east exit number #72.. -after you exit at #72 you'll be on the 12 East..there are signs saying this so keep your eyes out. -You'll be going on the 12 east for about 60 miles -You'll pas a few small towns along the way on the us12 east..a few farms and such. After about 60 miles you'll see a market called Fischers on your right...there's a shell station kitty corner across the street from it. -Take the first right after Fisches Market..this is road 131 -go across te grey bridge..the 131 will soon turn into the 23 (about 2 miles) -Go down the 23 for about 20 miles..make sure you stay on the 23..it doesn't have to many forks though and there a many signs saying that it's the 23 along the way. -You'll pass a sign saying Blue Lake Trail Head. You'll now be in the Gifford Pinchot National Forrest -almost there!! -The road to the site is just after a small bridge that spans over the Cispus River. You'll take the first road to the right after the bridge. The road is marked #2801. The marking is on a brown post set up in some ferns on the right hand side of the road where it begins. Don't go tot he road that goes strait to the river there..take the long one. -The site is about 8 1/2 miles down road #2801 -You'll go over about five small bridges along the road. -Just before the road to the site you'll pass a clearing the trees where you can see the Cispus river -Soon you'll see some clearings to the right of you..right after these there is a road of to the right..take this road and you'll be in the big clearing with the rock quarry I HIGHLY RECCOMEND CHECKING THIS OUT!!!!!!!......... it's in a very beautiful area, there is a river to swim in and it's FREE!!!!!!!!!!! --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page

found this site through the Romz records "friends" page... maybe it's cause i'm finally getting back into the idm-stuff, but i'm really impressed by the samples by these guys... and if you've got a minute you should visit this super userfriendly site. one could say this all sounds like other sht, but as i feel with all things, when it is done well and with heart, genre is transcended. in general, lots of melodic VSnares style work, which is sort of my favorite aesthetic of all time me thinks. personally, i found the first album, Mild Violence, to be a little dull, but that's me... Emotional Joystick, Albatross, Binray, Terminal 11, Soplerfo (much less tramatic music), ... all very creative and impressive and crafty. any other suggestions of similar lables would be appreciated. i took a big break from idm and i'm returning to realize, once again, this is sort of the most fun music in the history of sound. http://www.zodrecords.com/releases.php _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement? Stephen James Knight- Everyone is Beautiful to Someone CD Release With an emotional temperament equivalent to a pendulum in an earthquake, the spectrum of music delivered can span from violent aggression to airy contentment; casting aside the brutal noise of former recordings, "Everyone is Beautiful to Someone", the latest release from Stephen Knight, AKA EDGEY, brings about a different range of audible sound sculpture in a simpler, yet deeper pure form. These 9 audio recordings form a solid 60 minutes of continuous unbroken sound, moving from one concept to the next; and not to disappoint fans of the more aggressive sounds, 2 bonus tracks from Stephen's "EDGEY" moniker will be added. stephen james knight http://www.stephenjamesknight.com purchase: http://www.reducedphat.com/shop.html http://sinibyte.livejournal.com/164705.html?mode=reply label info http://www.reducedphat.com http://www.thoughtbludgeon.com --- http://www.edgey.net http://www.thoughtbludgeon.com 'intellect in rational movement tries to kill emotion, in doing so, only kills itself.'
