As I was somehow late to the party to all of the Braindance rituals for
most of my life, and can't say I was on the rave at such and such
location, or has been meeting Richard in a hardware store or something
along this lines, it was one of those days when on a perfect Sunday
sunny day one decides to embark on a small revision. And the figure of
certain Paradinas was always on my mind to explore deeper. Long story
short, turns out the cunt have a label, Planet Mu, which has tons of
interesting albums by people I wasn't familiar with. One of them certain
DJ MANNY, now expert on this list probably are much better equipped with
who did what and when, and I deliberately refrain from that, so not to
spoil my own little ideas about what I have heard for the past half and
something hour, sometimes with extreme goosebumps level. What you gonna
hear if you decide to listen to this album is defo not strictly IDM but
more like Juke I guess. But there is always this high level dither or
something in all of the tracks that makes it tremendously 'smart'. In
other way of saying it, what appears on the surface as a monotone 140+ bpm
dance music, is in fact a very sophisticated palindrome of samples, and
besides that if one have a luck to have a time to listen to it from
beginning to an end there is even a story to it!!!! Now, you tell me
what could be better than just sit down and listen to a record, and I
tell you'll lying. DJ MANNY - HYPNOTIZE ladies and gentelmentz.
PS just read what I said and I think the only thing to add to it is that
when first or second Burial album drops on Hyperdub, remember it sounded
kinda fresh but at the same time dated? Well, this is what you will get,
aged like a fine wine.
