this music grows on me. my first impression of this series of music from rdj was : a single, maybe two tracks that was ok and nothing more. i have listen to them several times now, including the new one: analord 05 with a VERY very fine side A and a B that sounds like a b-track ! Do I dare to say that some of this stuff from rdj are his best since his golden years 1995-97 ?

i'm so so disappointed about this analord 10... i ordered it on time, my order was number #914... then 3-4 weeks after, as nobody was getting it on time... i also got worried, and asked them ''where is it?'' ''why it didn't still arrive?'' and they told me my card was rejected for some reason. now, how was i supposed to know that!? if they only told me that my card wasn't accepted i would get them 20 other credit cards... and, now i guess they sold my analord #914 to someone else... why did they give you a reservation number in the first place? wasn't a reservation supposed to HOLD your order... who did they sell it to??? because when my card was rejected then you couldn't order anymore - from their order page... all copies were already sold... anyway it's really frustrating... i have 99% of ALL rephlex records (only j4 and j5 are missing in my collection - and i intend to buy those as well) and it's really really disappointing thing to loose this analord 10 this way... where did my analord #914 end up? btw, is there anyone that doesn't like it and is willing to sell his copy for a reasonable price? (i would give twice as much as you gave - and send you a extra quality copy of all analord 12'' in digital format - on CD) --- qwerty dj mixes > http://prikljucak.mi2.hr/download/ info > http://prikljucak.mi2.hr/index.php?page=news&id=88 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Dude, you'll be lucky, analord 10 has been swapping hands on eBay for $200 The Analord series does seem to be a cynical project of Aphex-anorak-eploitation. I get the bit about making it retrofied vinyl only, but there's NO reason all these tracks could be squeezed onto two or three disks. Having said that, the music is great, well done RDJ. Hello,, The Analord 10 binder was a bit of a fuck up by the looks of things, i don't think it turned out the way Rephlex expected. Ill-concieved maybe.. It's not really strong enough to hold 11 records unless it remains motionless. The gold leaf logo is very fragile indeed. A lot of the binders seem to have got damaged in transit too. Seems i was lucky, not only did it arrive in one piece (it did only have to travel a few miles..) but I submitted the wrong c/c code initially and they contacted me to sort it out. People with later orders weren't so fortunate it seems, the example here is far from the only one I've heard of. I had order 17.. If you want 10 + binder that badly I know the guy who runs WATMM is open to offers for his right now. On eBay I've seen it sell for no less than $350.. There's one on UK eBay now. Possibly it's being repressed aswell (at least on the aformentioned and vague 'alternative format'). What that means is still unclear.. Check under 'important topics, here - http://forum.watmm.com/index.php?showforum=7 With the exception of the binder, all the Analord records are easy to get. I believe 1-4 have all been pressed 3 times now, there neither jard to get nor expensive. I also think they've been made well; I don't think 'squeezing' any more tracks on the wax than has been done would have been any kind of improvement, nor do I think CD will do the (analogue dominated) music justice at all. Keep it vinyl i say, If that means people have to buy a turntable to enjoy it (overlooking crappy mp3s), good. So much fine electronic music is vinyl only already. People buying it keeps the medium alive. Good. It's the best one.. Electronic music lovers without turntables seems almost paradoxical to me.. 10 is the best one so far, I must say. I hope you do get it, one way or another. On Thu, 17 Mar 2005 15:05:48 +0000, Andy Birchwood <andythetwig@gmail.com> wrote:

Sorry, not meaning to get into the whole analogue vs digital debate, but "Electronic music lovers without turntables seems almost paradoxical to me.." Err... why? Electronic music is the only genre of music that can be produced without the need for analogue sound, somewhere in the production line, and a hell of a lot of it is produced in exactly that way. Lovers of innovative music that reject the advantages of innovative transport mediums seems more paradoxical to me. -----Original Message----- From: Adam [mailto:adam.f.mc@gmail.com] Sent: 17 March 2005 15:50 To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] analord 05 Hello,, The Analord 10 binder was a bit of a fuck up by the looks of things, i don't think it turned out the way Rephlex expected. >I >don't think 'squeezing' any more tracks on the wax than has been done >would have been any kind of improvement, nor do I think CD will do the >(analogue dominated) music justice at all. I have nothing against vinyl, they are big and nice (and yes, I own a turntable) but the above makes sense only if the music was recorded on analogue equipment in the first place. If it was recorded on hard disk or DAT then the waveform was once and for all digitized and would remain digitized (i.e. 16bit or 24bit or whatever, but not a smooth wave) also on the vinyl. Personally I don't think RDJ used a reel-to-reel recorder for the Analords, but I could be wrong...
