Good luck. When I lived in Boston from 1998-2001, there was very little in terms of IDM, Techno, or even clubby dancehall crap. The scene was dominated by punk. Every now and then an act would come into town and play at the Paradise or Middle East -- I recall catching the Orb a couple times as well as a really amazing Ozzric Tentacle show once. Negativland once made an appearance at a theater hall -- I wish I could remember where exactly, but it was in Cambridge. I think I remember a dance/techno night at Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, but am not sure if it held up forever. I repeat, the scene was dominated by punk. I eventually grew to hate it. If you do ever get a chance to see Specimen 37, do it. They are from Boston and gig pretty regularly. They're probably one of the more interesting acts to come out of there in years. -- Mark Schieldrop | Reporter, The South County Independent mark@schieldrop.net| mark.schieldrop@gmail.com (401)789-6000x222 office (401)374-4121 cell (401)608-2037 home --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Agreed. The only good electronic shows I've seen have been at TT the Bear's (Worm is Green/Solex, Kid606, Matthew Dear/Dykehouse, etc.). Like Mark said, Boston/Cambridge is mostly punk/indie/noise, although Enormous Room does feature some good stuff every now and then. I do co-host a show on a local radio station (WMBR 88.1FM, MITs radio station) called sigronica that plays mostly experimental electronic/IDM/sound art. The website is at: http://www.sigtronica.org and we have our show from 7-8PM Monday nights, if anybody is interested in listening (or sending tracks our way). thanks, nick On Tue, 15 Feb 2005 12:52:02 -0500, Mark Schieldrop <mark.schieldrop@gmail.com> wrote:

the show I did opening here in Halifax for Junior Boys Friday night is now online and available for download or streaming: http://andrew-duke.com/AndrewDukelive@ReflectionsHalifax4Mar05.mp3 I hate labelling music, especially my own, but to help out those wondering, it's a mix of electro-ey stuff, idm-ey stuff, speed garagey stuff, and tech house-y stuff. the first two tracks incorporate some samples from buenos aires' emisor (with whom i'm currently collaborating) and the last track is a live mashup of kraftwerk's numbers with ciara's 1, 2 step. comments welcome. lots of other live performance recordings from me here: http://andrew-duke.com/listen.html thanks. andrew -- Andrew Duke scoring/sound design/source http://andrew-duke.com Cognition Audioworks label [Andrew Duke, Foal, Clinker, Granny'Ark] http://cognitionaudioworks.com -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
