Good Hello!
We here at the EZRPM School for Wayward Girls* are very pleased to
announce that on January 23rd, we'll be hosting a show by one of the
most highly regarded intelligent dance music producers in the world -
Cylob.
Cylob (Christopher Jeffs), friend and collaborator with Richard D. James
(aphex twin), has released no less than 20 albums and EPs on the Rephlex
and Breakin' labels since his 1993 debut on Rephlex. Whereas many other
producers in the IDM genres tend to focus heavily on moving the music
forward with intricate rhythmic elements, Cylob has worked with using
catchy melodies and synthetic lyrical components to hook the brains of
listeners into the groove. His compelling tonal sensibilities set him
apart from many of the drill-n-bass cookie-cutter producers of the last
few years. Perhaps best known for his widely played 2001 EP, "Cut the
Midrange, Drop the Bass", Cylob has truly established himself as a brain
dance legend.
Additionally, we'll have a live performance by the prolific Benn Jordan,
a.k.a. The Flashbulb. No stranger to Orlando music fans, after
performances at our previous EZRPM weekly, and the PUSH weekly before
that, The Flashbulb will be on tour with Cylob, and thus will be gracing
us with his abstractions once again. Personally, I can't wait!
Not to mention the fact that yours truly, Mr. Antonym, will also be
there for a live set. Tired of the same old MP3 you downloaded last
year, or the tracks on the EZRPM compilation? Why not come out and
convince me to hand you a copy of my newly finished "Mr. Antonym" album?
It's full of surprises, and I'll have even more in store for the live
show.
Sure, it sounds good so far, but where's this show going to be? At no
less a venue than Screamer's, in downtown Orlando. Screamer's is
quickly becoming THE premier venue for left-field and underground acts
in central Florida. If you haven't been there yet, you will soon.
