It's a slightly annoying initialism when you think it's not always intelligent or danceable, and sometimes not even particularly musical (especially when I make it😉)... but after 30something years, I've gotten used to it. Now I lean in. It's like dance music but intelligent. That works for me. Genre names often don't fit perfectly but they are a handy signpost for pointing you in the direction of music you might like. *- Pilchard* pilchard.org On Fri, Apr 22, 2022 at 11:30 AM Laurent Knauth <laurent.knauth@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't think the guy denigrates dance music in general, as apparent simplicity and flow don't prevent intelligence. Making things seemingly easy takes a great deal of intelligence actually. On Fri, Apr 22, 2022 at 12:40 PM Lee Stacey <lee@leestacey.com> wrote:

I just found it a bit surprising that for someone who has been involved in music and music reviewing for a while that he's never even heard of RDJ or IDM. It's not like he hasn't gotten his share of semi mainstream press over the years. thanks, *Jeffrey J Davis* jeff@jeffreyjdavis.com www.jeffreyjdavis.com 218.833.2847 <http://www.jeffreyjdavis.com> <https://www.flickr.com/photos/phlow/> <http://instagram.com/jeffreyjdavis> <http://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffreyjdavis/> <http://www.twitter.com/jeffreyjdavis> <http://www.quora.com/Jeffrey-J-Davis> On Fri, Apr 22, 2022 at 4:00 PM benny blanco® <benny@blancodisco.com> wrote:

Everyone's in a silo. Before COVID I would go to shows because people I know said "Dude! It's great!" and they're right and I end up finding out about a whole world of musicians and fans I knew nothing about. I find it hilarious that he knows Sphongle but not Aphex Twin. Sphongle (to my knowledge) has never licensed music for commercials. On Sat, Apr 23, 2022 at 8:11 AM Jeff Davis <jeff@jeffreyjdavis.com> wrote:
