Tonight is SOLEX with WORM IS GREEN at the DRUNKEN UNICORN. Tomorrow evening is WOLF EYES with DJ GLEN THRASHER (read over-view from what you can expect below.) This Saturday is EYEDEA & ABILITIES Visit http://www.tightbros.net for info on this show as well as others. News- ** BLACK DICE unfortunately cancelled their appearance with ANIMAL COLLECTIVE on 11.14, but will be replaced by GANG GANG DANCE as opening support. _____________________________________________________________________ Wednesday 11.3 @ the Drunken Unicorn WOLF EYES RUBBER O CEMENT WILSON & HEATH DJ GLEN THRASHER all ages 9pm $8 WOLF EYES- Ann Arbor, MI?s WOLF EYES are at the forefront of a quickly expanding American noise scene. The trio of Nate Young, Aaron Dilloway and John Olson are the epitome of the self-sufficient musical entity. Olson and Dilloway have their own labels (American Tapes and Hanson Records respectively) that have been releasing cassettes, CDRs, 7?s, LPs and just about every other format, often in painfully limited editions, of Wolf Eyes material since Young first used the moniker in 1997. Their existence as a trio dates to 2000. The music that Wolf Eyes creates is truly terrifying; the soundtrack to street fight that erupts into outright incineration. Sonic touchstones include Throbbing Gristle, early Cabaret Voltaire, Black Flag, Whitehouse, Pre-Asheton Destroy All Monsters, Negative Approach, Swans and early Sonic Youth. RUBBER O CEMENT- RUBBER O CEMENT is a futuristic band throw-back as they try to make the world they've seen with algea hive brain eyes with cardboard and foam engineering. Not having the tools invented to make the actual computers and gene engineering they use whatever material is available in a cargo-cult look at the world ahead. A giant computer presides over a few oddly genetically messed with club footed infant monster-man-box like things draped in dragon and bat jet fuselage hampered by cubist wrongness and synth sounds. The synth sounds are augumented by sounds like scrape screams supplied by a tortured bass guitar. Rubber O Cement has attracted international attention and has worked with the japanese to create a better look at the future as their tour there gained them a noteriety as 'cardboard physicists'. WILSON & HEATH WILSON & HEATH is a young homo-erotic noise duo. Expect anything from burning hair, word-association mind games, amplified bug zappers, fetal position mumblings, and other typically cultish actions. No two shows are ever the same and their performances blur the lines between band & performance art & fetish video. DJ GLEN THRASHER- GLEN THRASHER?S "Destroy All Music" show on WREK-FM 91.1 just celebrated its 20th anniversary at Eyedrum Gallery this past weekend! Under the "Destroy All Music" banner, Glen helped nurture an underground subculture in Atlanta during the 80?s and early 90?s that took aesthetic cues from such bands as Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and SPK, and performance artists such as Mark Pauline, Joanna Went and Monte Cazzazza. Come hear what he?s been listening too lately as he?ll be spinning records in the lounge before and between live performances. http://www.tightbros.net __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
