October 21, 2004 COMPONENT IS FIVE YEARS OLD! if component were a person it'd be entering kindergarten and to celebrate we're having a sale in the shop. starting october 21, 2004 until december 21, 2004 we're featuring a buy 2 get 1 of equal or less value for free promotion. all you have to do is buy two releases and then select the third release you want to receive along with them (check out the shop for the skinny). we've just made your holiday shopping that much easier.... some proem for dad... mom can't get enough of mochipet... and for little sally, how about some nice somatic responses? also to mark this momentous occasion we're officially releasing bitcrush's enarc cd and jvox's address unknown cd. they're available in the component shop and through the usual online stores and better electronic music shops. Bitcrush-Enarc CD Com-120 Bitcrush is the newest project of Mike Cadoo of Gridlock. The music on Enarc is described by the artist as a portrait of who he is; an experiment of all his past and present musical endeavors and influences sculpted into songs. Enarc is a hybrid which combines elements of glitched-up rhythms, emotional heart on a sleeve synthwork, shoegazer style textural guitar work, and live bass. As always, the crunchy beats and moody synth pads are in place giving the album a sense of familiarity while providing something new. A bit of Gridlock, a bit of Dryft, a musical progression full of hints to things to come. Jvox-Adress Unknown CD Com-117 On Jvox's second full length album(and first on Component), Brooklyn's Joel Tallent presents varied selection of jazzy hip-hop riffs, spacey idm, odd samples and mechanical beats. The overall tone of the album is one that is quite dreamlike where muted voices shuffle between the down tempo beats. Hip hop plays a large roll in this release(most likely taken from Joel's experience as an MC in the late 80's) interjected with a healthy dose of IDM sensabilities(that seduced him in the 90's ). Address Unknown shows a warm and more human side to the usually cold and antiseptic world of electronic music with its subtle melodies, deep basslines and funky beats.
