Did I just hear a Squarepusher song in an ad for visiting Mexico? It's as the guy answering the phone starts to decide to visit Mexico. You know, the one that starts with them singing "Happy Birthday" in Spanish. No, it is not "Feliz Cumpleanos A Ti" - slap the people at the Mexican restaurant that sign that to you. -- The best show killed by Cartoon Network/Adult Swim: Home Movies. Season 1, Out on DVD - November 16th. http://homemovies.toonzone.net/DVD.html (Entertainment Weekly endorsed it after it was canceled - what does that tell you?) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Why not? Autechre's "Clipper" was used to pimp Volkswagon Beetles. Aphex Twin ("4") was used in one of those stupid fricken anti-drug ads. It only makes sense that Mr. Jenkinson would support tourism for a country that has cheap prostitutes and cheaper alcohol. --- Andrew Hime <hime@charter.net> wrote:

Also, waaaay back a song by Aphex Twin was used in a Perelli (tire) commercial (circa '95 maybe?). I remember it since it was around the time I started listening to Aphex Twin. -- Mr. Tangent [the binary police] www.mrtangent.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The funniest Aphex Twin appearance was the anti-drug commercial with the track off his Richard D. James album. I think it was Girl/Boy. It's ironic with the amount of drugs he's consumed. I read something about Aphex Twin and drugs (druqz?) he uses to get inspiration... I wonder how much of this is true, cause ussually things produced under influence sound like "teh shit" under unfluence, but turn out to suck when you're sober again.... ...or maybe I'm just using the wrong drugs :) On Wed, 29 Sep 2004 22:25:07 EDT, mjed5150@aol.com <mjed5150@aol.com> wrote:

The Aphex track in the anti-drug spot was "4" (track 1 on the RDJ album). Come to think of it, "Girl/Boy" was used in a Bank of America commercial about 5 years ago. --- MJed5150@aol.com wrote:

I remember seeing that pirelli commercial before I got into electronic music. then when I started getting into aphex, who was the first electronic act that sparked my interest, I recalled that commercial, and it occurred to me that the music sounded quite aphexy. my suspicions were later confirmed by reading some internet fan site; I think it might have been the aphex faq. anyway, caustic window compilation is still one of fave albums. ;^) ----- Original Message ----- From: "John/Slackonomics" <slack@slackonomics.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, September 29, 2004 4:29 PM Subject: Re: [idm] Squarepusher in ads now?

You're right, that was one of the joyrex9 tracks. Around that time music from Oval (I guess from "Systemisch") was used for a perfume spot.
